APPLICATION FORM AVAILABILITY:

Application forms are available at college and cégep scholarship offices or by clicking here to download from our website. If you cannot access an application, call us toll-free at 1-866-544-2673 or email westonawards@cmsf.ca.

INSTRUCTIONS

FOR ALL APPLICANTS APPLYING FOR GWMSC UPPER-YEAR AWARDS:

  • Photocopy the form as needed.
  • Complete the application form by using a computer or typewriter. Hand-written answers on pages 7 and 8 will not be accepted. To complete the form electronically, click here.
  • Answer all the questions. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Use the space provided. Extra pages will not be read.
  • Proofread your application carefully.
  • Find a referee who can complete Page 9. Make sure to choose someone who is not a relative but knows you and your activities well. Provide him or her with a copy of your completed application.
  • Submit one original application and one photocopied application to your college representative by the deadline your college has set for this scholarship. Click here for a list of college representatives and deadlines.
  • Make sure to include one official transcript and one photocopied transcript with your application.
  • Staple the original transcript at the end of the original application and staple the photocopied transcript at the end of the photocopied application.
  • Do not forget to sign and date your application. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR ADULT LEARNERS

Adult learners are asked to submit an additional page, which should include a brief biographical sketch, a more extensive employment history, and a paragraph about why they have decided to pursue college studies.

NOMINATION PROCESS & SELECTION PROCESS

Most participating colleges in Canada can nominate up to three students who are currently enrolled in an eligible program (2005-06 academic year). To recognize regional differences in college structure, public CEGEPs in Quebec can nominate up to two students and province-wide college systems in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick can nominate up to six students.

Students must first submit their application directly to their designated institutional representative. Based on the submissions received, the institution will determine which applicants are to be nominated. The representative will then complete Page 9 of each nominated application and forward it directly to the GWMSC program.

After receiving the applications, GWMSC selection committees will assess the applications and choose candidates to attend regional interviews. Applicants asked to attend interviews will be notified at least two weeks before regional interviews.
